5 Reasons Bostonians Should Work Out at Home

For folks who are starting out along their fitness journey — or even for some who have been in the routine for some time — heading to the gym might seem like part of the expected routine on the route to get fit. But it doesn’t have to be that way. In fact, if you live in or close to Boston, you might want to consider home workouts. Boston is a great place with some good gyms, but if you can find an in-home personal trainer, Boston will be an even better city since you’ll have more time to enjoy it!

Here are a few reasons why working out at home should be a priority for you if you live in or around Boston:

Time: What’s that, you want to drive or take the T to the gym after work? Not only will you get to sit in traffic on 128 or run the risk of T delays once, but twice! Even without traffic, you can save time working out at home with a proper workout plan. If you are lucky enough to be able to walk to the gym after work, that is a benefit. However, it might affect this next reason why working out from home might be preferred.

Experience: Peak hours at the gym are often right after work, so you could be waiting for bikes or elbowing your way over to the free weight section if you’re trying to squeeze a post-work workout in. Not exactly the ideal workout experience. And for those who are particularly looking to make their workouts efficient since they have so many other things going on, you want to find a place where you can focus and go from one workout to the next.

Customization: Working out in the confines of your own space grants you flexibility you can’t get elsewhere. If you sign up at a fitness club, or a gym, you’re limited by their space, their hours, who else is attending, etc. On the flipside, you have the freedom to make your own space in your own home. You can set up a TV, crank your own music, and know that it’s there any time you want to use it.

Money: Boston is expensive! You already know this though. But for those who could use a personal trainer to help them along their fitness journey, money saved by not attending a gym is money earned to pay for an in home personal trainer. This person can even help you customize your space and create an experience at home that can beat whatever a gym can offer.

Motivation: Dragging yourself out of the house and over to the gym can be a chore in itself sometimes. But knowing that you have a space of your own — or at least the ability and framework to workout at home, even if it is your living room carpet — can be empowering as you start to make strides toward your fitness goals.

For individuals at any stage of working out, doing it at home offers several benefits. Good luck to you as you consider your next steps — literally!
